It is always a difficult decision to make when you have to look at something you love and know that you have to let it go. I expect that many of us have experienced this kind of feeling when it comes to our children growing up and moving out. It's not a lot different when you have "babied" a business such as has been done with the Scrap Nook over the past four years.
The Scrap Nook has done much to bring people closer and form new friendships and strengthen relationships over the past several years. In that respect, our little store has been a HUGE success. However, with the economic downturn and my own increasing health issues, it has been made clear that it's time to make a change. I had thought that when I closed the Springfield store in June, it would help clear my very full plate...and it did. But it wasn't enough. The state of the economy has caused many businesses to fail over the past two years. The chain stores like Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and even Archiver's have become impossible to compete with because of their ability to offer deeply discounting coupons among other money-saving options.
We are so lucky in that we had so many wonderful and dedicated shoppers and friends of the Nook. For you, I am especially sad because the Nook has become a home, of sorts to you. For others, the Nook has been an out-of-town field trip from time to time, and I know it will be missed on many a road trip!
Finally, I want to also announce that I am working on the idea of an Internet Store for scrapbooking. Hopefully with the smaller amount of overhead, I will be able to reach more people and have a successful business in that way. We have a website that will launch sometime after the first of the year. You will be able to order all of the NEWEST, LATEST, and GREATEST items through this store. Be on the lookout for www.scrapnook.net.
We will be CLOSED this Monday, November 15 to get ready for our store closing event. We will begin our store closing this coming TUESDAY, November 16 at 10 a.m. sharp. ALL store items will be discounted a WHOPPING 25-50% off!
THIS INCLUDES ALL NEW ITEMS!!!
Come and shop as early as you can because selection is LIMITED, and you will NOT want to miss getting this kind of deal on items that are normally FULL PRICE everywhere else! For once, we can BEAT ANY price that Michael's or Hobby Lobby has!
PLEASE NOTE THAT DURING THIS PROCESS WE WILL ACCEPT CASH OR CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS ONLY. WE WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY CHECKS!! NO EXCEPTIONS!
The following information will help you know what to do about your GIFT CARDS, STORE CREDIT, and O' SCRAP REFUNDS.
GIFT CARDS: ALL gift cards will be honored for the full amount. However, gift cards MUST BE USED by our last day of business. At this time, I anticipate our store to be open at least a couple of weeks, but when the stock is gone, we will NOT be reordering. Gift Cards will NOT be refunded. They can be used for the purchase of merchandise ONLY.
STORE CREDITS: The same rules apply to store credits as to gift cards. Please make sure you CLEAR your store credit account as soon as possible. When we are out of product, we will not be able to offer you any other option. There will be no cash refunds of store credit.
CROP CLUB: If you have paid for your crop club membership or renewed it in the past three months, and you have NOT received your free kit for joining, then you will receive a $40 store credit. If you HAVE taken your free kit, you will receive a $20 store credit. There will be NO cash refunds for Crop Club.
O' SCRAP REFUNDS: ALL O' Scrap refunds will be made by November 30, 2010. I am hopeful that I will finish writing checks to people by the end of this coming week so that you will not have to wait any longer. This was a huge process, and I am thankful that you have all been patient while I have worked on this. Please know that I am committed to making sure that you get all of your money back as soon as possible. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
